Her wing lifted and came down on Corynce's head. "No. You're barely old enough to leave the nest thingy, what makes you think you can fly. The wind will carry you away and I'll be to blame." Frost scolded the young owlet. The great gray glared down, adding mentally that if Corynce did get pulled away, then good ridence. "If you want to hover or do something, go in a cave where the wind is scarce."

"hmph..i'll show you, Frost."
in a split second, Corynce began to glide around the mist pool. doing triwrls and fantastic tricks. at first the great grey didnt seem suprised, but was shocked when corynce did a power dive and took down a large rat. "showed you, just give me some claws and im off. youve been keeping me in the nest for to long. its almost been a month, and the other pit guardians have been showing me how to use my bare talons in battle..I'm ready." corynce said this sternly, like a warrior of Ga'hoole. This young owl was full of suprises.

She had begun to hop away, for the area was to small for her to easily manuver around, when the owlet took off. Frost opened her beak to scold him, but frowned. Soon shock over came her as he took down a rat almost his size. The Great gray sneered slightly and glided down to Corynce. When he said he was ready she stood up to her full height and squaked a laugh. "You think you're ready?! In battle, you must learn to watch your commrads die! Have you ever watched a young owl die? I think not."

...
Corynce only paused.
Corynce flew off back in the direction of the canyonlands.
~sometimes I think a Ga'hoole's life is easier..~ Corynce thought to himself. she thinks I havent seen my comrads die..I've seen such. while I was exploring the pits, I saw a pit guardian tear the flesh out of a young owl that stood against the pit guardian. a young Grass owl, un able to defend itself..is this really the life for me..? I need someone wise to tell me such things..not frost.~ corynce thought.
((this thread ends here I guess. after this thread ends, there will be a small time skip, where corynce is about 10 months. in the time skip, Frost will no longer be the mentor of Corynce))
