He is large for a Great Gray, standing taller than his father ever would be, even fully mature. His eyes are a glowing yellow, it runs in the family. He is the average Great Gray, average hearing, seeing and all that. Like his two sisters, his feathers are a brown-ish red color in the daylight sun and dark brown-ish gray during the night. His talons and beak are different from working as a smith. They are a very unusual mid-nigh black color,
Personality
Not much to say. He is a large bundle of niceness! But there are man flaws in his personality. Glaesel trusted anyone whom he found nice at first. This made a few decisions hard to make. The Great Gray can have his mean moments, no one is perfect! When he gets mean, he gets mean, rude and snappy.
History
One and a half years ago, on a dark nigh, Swatta watched her first chick to be born. There were 3 other eggs in the nest but she still couldn’t help but stare lovingly at this first one. Swatta and Nash, Swatta’s mate, had already decided to name the chicks after the three names they found on a piece of paper. So Glaesel was given the first name on the paper.
Nash had gone off to hunt for food while Swatta here watched her very first chick run around.
The family came in the order as followed; Glaesel(3/4 week), Scherl(1/2 week) Roth(1/4 week), then Frost(Barely a day). Glaesel being the oldest, he was the most supportive of all the others joining the family, Scherl yep! But Roth, not so much. The family wasn’t brought up with the traditional First Something neither Nash nor Swatta wanted to continue that, so the family had little parties ever two weeks an owlet grew.
Because it was winter, an owlet was bound to die sometime or another, it was a fact. Although the hollow was warm, Roth died from chills when he went out on a branch to wait for his father and mother’s return from Hunting. Swatta came first and found Roth frozen to the bone on a branch, she mourned for days but finally they had time for a funeral. It was done with quickly, that’s when they met Juniper, the pink nest-maid.
Juniper was kind and helpful to the family in their time of need. She had serving a family only once before, and was still very young. Only a year older than Nash himself, who were 4. Only weeks into the babysitting of owlets, did Glaesel begin to Fledge flight feathers. He took off with flying colors. He hunted with his father, soared with his mother, and warmed Frost and Scherl.
Then it was Scherl who fledged flight feathers. She took off and never came back, Nash said he took her somewhere where she’d like it. When It was time for Frost to fledge her flight feathers, she learned the truth. Both the mates were from the Ga’Hoole tree, and very smart, but they wanted their children to live normally for their first few weeks. Gradually, they’d introduce them to life in the Tree. Swatta from the Navigation Chaw and Nash being from the Search-and-rescue chaw. Both wished a chick of theirs would join their chaw, sadly it wasn’t meant to be. (I kept that lick where it was, from the Frost bio)
Glaesel had been taken away to the Ga’Hoole tree by then, their father was back with Frost explaining where she was to go. He had already trained and was a day away from getting a chaw assigned when he heard the news of his sister’s departure. He was mad, but he could never stop loving his little baby sister, Frost. So life went on, his parents joined the parliament and he was assigned to the Metal Chaw.
Everything was going good until a year later, when he was 1 year old. Frost came back, he saw her leave, and he saw her kill their parents. Yet he still couldn’t bring himself to hate her, to tell on her. When her eyes met his for a fraction of a second, she had seemed to soften, but the truth caught on to him. He finished his fathers alarm call as Frost flew off.
That’s when he changed his life. He was old enough and smart enough to know how to fly quickly and come up with words on the spot. He had trained to be a blacksmith for months, now he could leave. Be a slipgizzle. It didn’t take long to forge his tools and get a bag from the nest-maid’s quilting chaw thing. He had grinned when they told him he could leave. Only a few weeks passed before he became Glaesel: The Rogue Smith of Ambaba.
On his way to becoming what he is now, he met Gallet, an old male flying snake. They took to each other instantly and began to work together. Gallet wasn’t blind, nor was a nest-maid snake, but he was a good companion. He kept Glaesel from going into solitude like the other Rogue smiths he’d heard of.
