Physical Description
She looks exactly like Frost, twins if you must, just a few differences. Scherl is small for a Great Gray, just a bit taller than her sister. Her eyes are a glowing yellow, usually hidden behind a book. Her feathers, like her sister and brother’s, are a brown-ish red color in the daylight sun and dark brown-ish gray during the night. Her talons and beak is the only thing to tell the two sisters apart from. Scherl’s are a very light silver-ish gray color, practically matching her feathers during the nigh.
Personality
Scherl is a very…… Independent bird. Though she was once very close to her family, she has a seperet train of thoughts. The Tree comes first to her. When she looses something like family, she doesn’t care much for it. She takes it a loss yes, but no more. When it comes to books, it’s the total opposite. She is committed to them, very committed. If a book were to break, she’d be the first one to be there to start yelling at the person who did it. Yes, Scherl has a temper and it’s usually connected to her only reason of crying, She only cries when she’s mad.
History
One and a half years ago, on a sunny winter afternoon, Swatta watched her last and final chick to be born. There were 3 other in the nest but she still couldn’t help but stare lovingly at this last one. Swatta and Nash, Swatta’s mate, had already decided to call the last egg Frost, for the frost that had collected around the families hollow. So Frost was given her name Frost, which would really suit her in time to come.
Nash had gone off to hunt for food while Swatta here watched her very first four chicks run around.
The family came in the order as followed; Glaesel (3/4 week), Scherl (1/2 week) Roth (1/4 week), then Frost (Barely a day). Each of the eldest was named after names on a folder the Others had left behind. Glaesel being the oldest, he was the most supportive of Frost joining the family, the two sisters weren’t so much. The family wasn’t brought up with the traditional First Something neither Nash nor Swatta wanted to continue that, so the family had little parties ever two weeks an owlet grew.
Because it was winter, an owlet was bound to die sometime or another, it was a fact. Although the hollow was warm, Roth died from chills when he went out on a branch to wait for his father and mother’s return from Hunting. Swatta came first and found Roth frozen to the bone on a branch, she mourned for days but finally they had time for a furneral. It was done with quickly, that’s when they met Juniper, the pink nest-maid.
Juniper was kind and helpful to the family in their time of need. She had serving a family only once before, and was still very young. Only a year older than Nash himself, who were 4. Only weeks into the babysitting of owlets, did Glaesel begin to Fledge flight feathers. He took off with flying colors. He hunted with his father, soared with his mother, and warmed Frost and Scherl.
Then it was Scherl who fledged flight feathers. She took off and never came back, Nash said he took her somewhere where she’d like it. When I was time for Frost to fledge her flight feathers, she learned the truth. Both the mates were from the Ga’Hoole tree, and very smart, but they wanted their children to live normally for their first few weeks. Gradually, they’d introduce them to life in the Tree. Swatta from the Navigation Chaw and Nash being from the Search-and-rescue chaw. Both wished a chick of theirs would join their chaw, sadly it wasn’t meant to be.
Glaesel had been taken away to the Ga’Hoole tree by then, their father was back with Frost explaining where she was to go. Even though Scherl had left before Glaesel to go to the Ga’Hoole Tree, she didn’t get put in a chaw as fast. She missed most her practices to read in the library or make up her own stories.
And unlike Glaesel, she didn’t feel pain when her parliament parents died. She was a very kind and caring owl, like most her family, but she really didn’t care about her selfish parents like she should. They didn’t give her any ceremonies like the owls here had, she had nothing. About a month after Glaesel got his chaw, Scherl got her’s. She was as exited as anyone. When she found out she got into the Weathering/Colliering Chaw, she was as exited as can be. It would be such an honor to serve in two chaws, she knew it.
She isn’t the best in the Colliering chaw, but in the Weathering, she’s the smartest.
