Well, this was typical. Solitaire was on her own again. She guessed it couldn't be that surprising. She could make it through a whole week without so much as three words from her. Normally her day's routine would consist of staying in this library, sometimes well after dawn. She knew it wasn't good for her, other's had told her that she could become moon-blinked if she kept up a schedule like that, but Solitaire kept a mind to not sleep under the moon. There were just too many books... She never had time to actually count them, although she was sure the rough estimate was stowed away somewhere.
It wasn't like Solitaire always wanted to be cooped up in the library, however. Often times the young barn owl would gaze out wistfully at the other young owls, darting about with their much more interesting jobs. The old librarian, her predecessor, had been a rather mean old hag; a decaying beach and old, gnarled talons. The hunched over screech owl often stalked through the books, not hesitating to squawk at the noisy chaws. Solitaire was afraid to take the job once the old owl passed away, afraid she'd end up something like her.
Sighing, Solitaire tried to block out the sound of a flirtatious giggle that drifted around from somewhere, a pang of jealously sounding somewhere in her chest. Not only for the romantic confrontation, but for any kind of sprinking interaction. Grumbling, the young barn owl settled farther into her seat and pulled a book up around her.

Gurdar flew in with something around his neck, but as soon as he landed, he stuffed it somewhere in his feathers and walked over to the wardern. "Good night Solitaire! I was wondering if you knew where the books on rocks and earth are, I'm looking to find a... rock for my forge." Gurdar then found that Solitaire has maybe been found alittle left out. He thought he might ask her saomething later after... well. just later.

Solitaire jumped at the sudden entrance of a Great Gray owl, snapping shut the book she was reading and stowed it away on a little shelf behind her. She noted the sooty feathers on him as he shifted a moment, something being tucked into them and out of sight. Curiosity flared up in the young barn owl but she would mind her own and keep her beak shut.
"Good night Solitaire! I was wondering if you knew where the books on rocks and earth are, I'm looking to find a... rock for my forge.
"Good night, Gudar," She replied politely, still sounding quiet and shy. Shuffling out of her little "corner" that she had set up for her own personal references, she nodded to the west wing, where all the non-fiction books were. "They should be on the fourth row... Or the fifth... Oh no..." Solitaire finished weakly, a puzzled look on her face. She couldn't remember what row they were! Did it go cyclones, plant diseases, and then rocks or rocks, cyclones, and then plant diseases? She faltered for a moment, but regained her composure.
"Well, let me show you," She said, walking off towards the books stacked on the little fungi shelves. Disappearing momentarily in a maze of shelves, Solitaire popped back out with a slight grin. "They're over here Gurdar." She stood back and looked at the books. Despite the topic being about rocks, there were quite a few. She didn't know if the Great Gray would be able to leaf his way through them, wondering what kinds of rocks were used in forges. She, of course, had never really stepped foot in a forge so she had no clue what went on in there. "D-Do you need anything else?" She stuttered, losing the bit of confidence she had a moment ago.

Gurdar's eyes rose after she went to get the book. my, she needs to get out more.
"D-Do you need anything else?"
Gurdar looked at Her. she was quite nice, and cute. but who likes an old smith like him? no one... He sighed. "No, thats all I need. umm..." His head looked down, as always when he's nevous, "Well, do you want to... I dont know, do something? I mean, were always alone, with me and my coals, and you with your book..." then suddenly thought what he was saying was very dumb. "But of you dont want to, I mean..." Gurdar then looked down at his talons. Why do you get scared infront of her!

Solitaire glanced about at the books, simply avoiding the awkwardness that she had created in her mind. She started tapping a talon, a nervous habit.
"No, thats all I need. umm..."
Her dark eyes snapped back to the great gray, a slight nervous glint to them. It wasn't much of a change. Most of the time she was worrying about something or another. Her head tilted to the side, curious about what Gurdar was struggling to spit out. He looked down at his talons, reminding her of a little chick that had been scolded. She almost giggled at the absurdity, but it was cute.
Well, do you want to... I dont know, do something? I mean, were always alone, with me and my coals, and you with your book... But of you don't want to, I mean..."
Solitaire suddenly felt a warm rush of blood to her cheeks, and even through her feathers she flushed a pale pink. She too looked down at her talons, trying to hold of a smile. "Um... I wouldn't mind..." Sneaking a glance at him, she let the smile curve up the sides of her beak. "Wh-What did you have in mind?"

Gurdar, still looking at his talons, thought about this. You yoicks owl! you forgot what to do after she said yes!
Gurdar slightly looked up, to see her also looking at her talons, but she looked as if she was hiding her face.
"Well, I really dont know, I thought we could... maybe, no, i dont know... He looked at himself. your such a yoicks owl. cant even make something up to do! Gurdar looked around, and it seemed as if everything was looking at him, even the books!

Solitaire giggled softly, risking a glance at Gurdar. Her dark eyes met his, and she quickly flushed red again, averting her eyes.
"Well, I really dont know, I thought we could... maybe, no, i dont know..."
The barn owl sighed, glancing over at the books. So many of them.... She suddenly felt a suffocating feeling, all those books were getting to her. She needed to get out. It was a new feeling, the desire to get away. The library was a safe zone for her. It was like a second nest. But now... "Well... We could.. go for a fly?" She suggested with a shrug.

"Well... We could.. go for a fly?"
You are a mouse brained owl. you didnt think of flying! "Sure. when, shall we go?" He said and looked up to see her blushing. blushing is the only way you could see the skin through the feathers and down. it allways made females look cute.
